Attempted Robbery
2545 Channing Way

On Tuesday, September 25th, 2012, at 7:00 p.m., a UCPD officer was flagged down by the victim of an attempted robbery which occurred two hours earlier. The victim, a 20 year old male student, was standing on the sidewalk in front of the Channing-Bowditch Apartment Complex with a bicycle in his possession. He saw a group of people walking on the other side of the street. A male member of the group approached the victim and asked him for a cigarette. The victim gave him a cigarette and the subject left the area. The subject returned approximately 10 minutes later with a male companion. The suspect spoke to the victim in a threatening manner and asked the victim to give him his bike. The victim fearing for his safety was able to make his way back to the secure entry area of the apartment building with his bicycle. The suspect and his companion left the area in an unknown direction. The victim was not injured during the encounter.
The suspects are described as:
Suspect #1 – a Hispanic male in his 20s, 6’-0” tall, thin build, medium dark colored hair that was combed back, wearing a white colored sports jersey with no writing or numbers on it, oversized /long blue denim shorts, and dark colored shoes.
Suspect #2 – There is no description at this time.
