Armed Robbery

2600 Block of Dwight Way

June 6. 2012

BPD report # 12-29455

 

On Sunday, May 3, 2012 at about 11:20 p.m., an 18-year-old Berkeley resident, unknown if affiliated with UCB, was the victim of an armed pedestrian robbery.   He told officers that he was walking east on the south sidewalk of Dwight Way from Bowditch Street when he was pushed from behind by a male suspect who pointed a black gun at him and demanded his property.  Two suspects who were standing behind the victim then removed his backpack. All three male suspects fled the scene on foot.

Members of the University of California Police Department detained a male nearby. The victim did not identify the detainee as being involved in the robbery. The suspects made off with a black backpack containing a Laptop, cell phone, cash and miscellaneous paperwork and identification.
 
The victim sustained minor swelling to his right cheekbone where the suspect had struck him with the gun.
 

The victim described the suspects as:
Suspect #1 - Black Male Adult, 25-30 years old, 6’0” tall, dark complexion, dark doo rag, tan and blue flannel shirt and dark pants. (Suspect with the gun)
Suspect #2 – No description given.
Suspect #3 – No description given.
