Armed Robbery
Dwight Way and Etna Street
June 06, 2012
BPD report # 12-28692
On Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at about 9:30 p.m. a brother and sister, both Berkeley residents, unknown if affiliated with UC, were robbed at gunpoint at Dwight Way and Etna Streets. The two victims told officers that they were sitting on the curb when they were approached by two male suspects. One suspect grabbed the woman’s bag. The victim and suspect struggled over the bag until the suspect pointed a silver gun at her and she let go. The two male suspects got into a waiting car, a green Toyota Camry with a spoiler on it. The victims immediately called police.
A BPD officer spotted a car with several occupants that matched the description of the getaway car. BPD officers made a felony car stop at College and Claremont Avenues in Oakland. The victims positively identified a rear passenger as the male robbery suspect who had the gun. Officers arrested the woman driver as she drove the car after the robbery. The front male passenger was identified as the second robbery suspect and the other rear passenger had the victim’s wallet in her purse.
The victim described the suspects as:
Suspect #1 Arrested – 17-year-old male, resident of Berkeley
