Attempted Strong Arm Robbery
"F" Line AC Transit Bus

ACSO Case No. 10-020515

December 15, 2010

UCPD would like to make the community aware of an incident which recently occurred on an AC Transit bus.

On Thursday, December 9, 2010, at 7:00 p.m. an attempted strong arm robbery occurred on an AC Transit bus.  The transit bus was traveling on Stanford Avenue in Oakland and stopped at a bus stop at 55th Street where six male juveniles boarded the bus.  When the bus stopped at King Street the bus driver noticed the six males moving towards the rear exit.  The bus driver then saw one of the juveniles try to grab a female passenger’s purse.  Another female passenger intervened and helped the victim, a UC Berkeley student, hold on to her purse.  At the same time suspect #1 began punching a male passenger in an attempt to take his iPod.  All six suspects then ran off the bus and the bus driver contacted AC Transit Dispatch to report the crime.  A.C. Transit Police and BPD arrived on scene and searched the area but were unable to locate the suspects.  The male victim was slightly injured during the incident but did not require medical attention.

The suspects were described as:

Suspect #1 – A Black male, 17 to 20 years of age, approximately 5’08” in height, 175 lbs., dark complexion, short hair, wearing a black baseball type jacket with red and white stripes on the sleeves.

Suspects #2, 3, 4, 5 & 6 – Black male juveniles, wearing black jackets and black pants.

AC Transit Police Services has reported at least one more similar incidence on the F Line recently.
