It has recently come to UCPD’s attention that an unwanted contact and harassment occurred on an AC Transit bus while travelling between the 2000 and 2400 blocks of Durant Avenue. On Monday, November 8, 2010, at 3:10 p.m. the victim, a female UC Berkeley student, boarded the bus at the Downtown Berkeley Bart Station. The victim saw three males board the bus. The first suspect sat down across from the victim while the other two suspects sat next to and diagonally across from her. The suspect seated next to her began to touch her inappropriately while the suspect across from her verbally threatened her. The first suspect then produced a can of pepper spray and threatened to use it on the victim if she cried out for help. The harassment continued until a passerby intervened and asked the victim if she was ok. The suspects made threats towards the passerby and then exited the bus. The victim was not injured during this encounter.
The suspects were described as:
Suspect #1 - A Black male in his 20s, 6’3” in height, 190 lbs., wearing a navy colored baseball hat, a white tank-style undershirt, sunglasses and a gold grill in his mouth.
Suspects #2 & #3 – Black male teenagers, about 17 years of age, with large builds.
