Last week two hate motivated crimes occurred on the UC Berkeley campus.
The first crime, a hate motivated vandalism involving stickers posted on the Sather Gate Bridge, was discovered on Tuesday, October 5, 2010. It was reported to UCPD on Wednesday, October 6, at 1:30 p.m. The stickers were posted on the Students for Justice in Palestine display board and were anti-Muslim in nature. The stickers were removed by an unknown party prior to being reported to UCPD.
The second crime was reported on Thursday, October 7, 2010, at 5:12 p.m. A UCPD Bicycle Officer was flagged down by an individual who reported having seen two instances of anti-Hispanic graffiti written in black magic marker on the first floor of Dwinelle Hall. PP-CS was called and responded to remove the graffiti. UCPD Officers searched the building but did not find any other hate motivated graffiti.
