Lower Sproul Plaza
September 2, 2010

On Tuesday, September 1, 2010 UCPD received a report of a sexual battery that had occurred the previous day Monday, August 30, 2010 at around 3:55 p.m.  The victim, a 19 year old White female student, was sitting on a bench reading a book on Lower Sproul Plaza when she was approached by a male who said “Excuse me” and started to cry.  The suspect sat down next to the victim and said “Look into my eyes”.  As the suspect was crying and speaking to the victim he began to touch her.  As the victim said “No” and tried to move away from him the suspect grabbed her inappropriately and told her to “Strip”.  The victim pushed the suspect’s hand away and got up.  The suspect started to follow the victim as she left Sproul Plaza however she lost sight of him on Bancroft.  The victim was not injured during the encounter.

The suspect was described as:

A Black male in his mid-40s, approximately 6’0” in height, with short gray hair, missing front teeth, had dark glossy eyes and was possibly homeless.
