Kleeberger Lot, Unit II Loading Dock, The Career Counseling Center and the City of Berkeley
July 19, 2010

On Friday, July 16, 2010 UCPD received a report of multiple trash cans on fire on Telegraph.  Trash cans in front of Subway, and down towards Channing were on fire.  UCPD assisted BPD and BFD with a large trash can fire on Bancroft and Telegraph.

On Saturday, July 17, 2010 at 3:28 a.m. BPD received a report of a fire in a trash can on the 2600 block of Parker near Benvenue.  BFD responded and extinguished the fire.  A light pole and a vehicle parked near the fire were damaged by the flames.

On Sunday, July 18, 2010 at about 3:21 a.m. a BPD officer was patrolling the south side area near campus when he noticed a Port-a-Potty on fire on the 2300 block of Bancroft.  The officer extinguished the fire.   BFD arrived and pulled the toilet away from a building whose exterior wall was scorched.  A little over an hour later at 4:56 a.m. BPD received an anonymous call reporting a trash can on fire in the 2300 block of Prospect.  The trash can had been pushed into a car parked near by causing extensive damage to the car.  Also, on Sunday evening at approximately 11:42 p.m. UCPD responded to a fire at the Unit 2 loading dock and observed a large flame at the south end of the loading dock.  BFD arrived and extinguished the fire.  A minivan belonging to the UC Berkeley Office of Student Development was damaged due to the fire.

On Monday, July 19, 2010 at 12:04 a.m., UCPD received a report of a fire at 2222 Banroft.  Upon arrival, the officers discovered a wooden bench on fire in the Tang Center courtyard just south of the Career Counseling Center.  The officers extinguished the fire.  There was extensive damage to the wooden bench.

A search of the areas by UCPD and BPD after the incidents did not yield any suspects.  There were no injuries reported in any of the aforementioned cases.  UCPD is working with the State Fire Marshall and Arson Investigators.

There is no suspect(s) description at this time.
