Robberies in the City of Berkeley
 

January 8, 2008

The Berkeley Police Department reported a series of robberies near campus in late December 2009.

On Friday, December 18th at 10:49 p.m. BPD received a report of a robbery via shotgun in the vicinity of Parker and Hillegass. There were five victims. The suspects were described as:

Suspect #1 – A Black male, 6’00” in height, 180 lbs., wearing a mask and a black hooded sweatshirt and carrying a shotgun.
Suspects #2 & 3 – Black males, wearing masks and black hooded sweatshirts.

On Thursday, December 24th at 7:00 p.m. an attempted robbery occurred on the 2500 block of Dana. The victim was approached by an individual who demanded his property. The victim refused and the suspect left the scene in a black, long body sedan traveling southbound on Dana. The victim described the suspect as:

A Black male in his 40s, 5’09” in height, with a goatee, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.

Also on the 24th at 10:37 p.m. another attempted robbery occurred on the 2500 block of Telegraph. The suspect was subdued and taken into custody by BPD. There is no suspect description at this time.

On Tuesday, December 29th at 8:10 p.m. an armed robbery via gun occurred near the intersection of Parker and Ellsworth. The suspect was described as:

A Black male in his 30s, 5’10”in height, with a medium build, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and a black bandana on his face.

Also on the 29th a strong arm robbery occurred at 9:25 p.m. at Durant and Ellsworth. The victim, a student, was attacked by three suspects who pushed, punched and kicked him. A UCPD officer stopped an individual matching the description of one of the suspects. He was positively identified by the victim and taken into custody. The suspects were described as:

Suspect #1 – SEC, Samba, a Black male, 20 years of age, 5’10”, 150 lbs.
Suspects #2 & 3 – Black males, no further description.

An armed robbery also occurred on the December 29th at Bancroft and Fulton. The suspect was a Black male. Nor further description at this time.

On December 30th at 7:15 p.m. an armed robbery occurred at the intersection of Channing and College. The victim described the suspect as:

A Black male, 6’00” in height, possibly with a beard, wearing a black mask, black pants and a black jacket.

On Thursday the 31st at 12:40 a.m. 3 to 4 individuals were the victims of an armed robbery via gun at the corner of Bancroft and Dana. The suspects were described as:

Suspects #1 & 2 - Black males, 18-20 years of age, with medium builds, wearing a black and dark hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
