On Saturday, March 8, 2008 at approximately 1:23 a.m. UCPD received a report of a strong arm robbery, battery and attempted car jacking which had occurred a short time earlier at a Grizzly Peak turnout approximately 1.5 miles south of Centennial Drive. The victims, a 24-year-old non-affiliated Hispanic male and two non-affiliated Hispanic females, 18 and 19-years-age, were sitting on a log at the turn out when a car containing 5 males and 1 female parked next to their vehicle. The suspects got out of their vehicle, approached the victims and spoke to them. Three of the suspects started punching the male victim. Two of the suspects jumped into the victims’ vehicle and tried to start it. The two female victims prevented the suspects from taking the vehicle. The suspects jumped back in their vehicle and left the scene traveling southbound on Grizzly Peak. UCPD Officers and East Bay Regional Park Police searched the area but were unable to locate the suspects or their car. The victims suffered minor injuries during the encounter.
The suspects are described as:
Suspect #1 – A Hispanic male, 18-20 years old, 5’10” in height, 180 lbs, with a large build, dark skin, long straight brown hair, wearing a hat and a black shirt.
Suspect #2 – A Hispanic male, 18 years old, 5’6” in height, 125 lbs., with a thin build, dark skin, long straight brown hair, wearing a hat and dark clothing.
Suspect #3 – A Hispanic male, 23-24 years old, 5’04” in height, 150 lbs, with a stocky build, dark skin, short dark hair, wearing a hat and a black hooded sweatshirt.
Suspect #4 – A Hispanic female, 15 years old, 5’5” in height, 115 lbs., with a skinny build, dark skin, long straight brown hair, wearing a red shirt, a black sweater and dark pants.
Suspect #5 – A Hispanic male.
Suspect #6 – A Hispanic male.
Suspects’ Vehicle – An older model Buick, maroon in color and with a maroon leather interior. |
