Robbery and Attempted Robbery (Suspects Arrested)

North Side of Campus

November 9, 2006

On Wednesday, November 8, 2006, a robbery and an attempted robbery occurred on the north side of campus; both incidences involved battery to the victims.

The first incident was an attempted robbery which occurred at 4:00 PM.  The victim, a 28-year-old Asian student, was walking on the footbridge between University House and Haviland Hall when he was stopped by two Black males.  One of the males punched him several times in the face and then demanded his money.  The victim fought back and the suspects fled westbound towards Tollman Hall.

The second incident was a robbery which occurred later that day at 4:52 PM.  The victim, a 20 year old White male student, was walking along the north side of Giannini Hall when he saw a Black male teenager.  As the victim attempted to walk past him the suspect punched him in the face.  A second suspect then proceeded to kick the victim while they demanded his money.  The victim complied with the demand and the suspects left the scene walking northbound towards University House.

A UCPD Bicycle Officer was in the area and received the report of the second robbery.  He observed two Black youths walking westbound from the direction of Giannini.  He intercepted the youths and they were later positively identified by both victims.  Both suspects are now in custody.

The suspects arrested were identified as:

Suspect #1 – Black male, 15 years old, 5’8” in height, 170 lbs., black hair and brown eyes, wearing a hoody.

Suspect #2 – Black male 15 years old, 5’7” in height, 150 lbs., black hair and brown eyes, wearing a black jacket.
