Burglary  (Suspect Arrested)

Sproul Hall

June 14, 2006

On Monday, June 12, 2006 at 11:20 PM a UCPD Officer was riding a Police bicycle north bound on Barrow Lane when he was approached by a pedestrian walking in the opposite direction.  As the individual passed the Officer he made a comment about the Officer’s bicycle.  A short time later the Officer was walking southbound on Barrow Lane when he saw a black male standing on the first floor ledge of Sproul Hall.  He was partially concealed by bushes and was standing in front of an open window.  The Officer asked him what he was doing on the ledge of the building.  The suspect replied that he was bored and was just playing around.  At this point the Officer called for assistance.  Upon the arrival of other Officers the suspect was detained and the bicycle Officer climbed onto the ledge where the suspect had been standing.  He observed burglary tools and a blue rubber glove on the ground below the window.  The suspect was then placed under arrest and a blue rubber glove, matching the glove on the ground, was found tucked into the waist band of his sweatpants.

The suspect arrested was identified as:

AMAJOYI, Obioma, a black male Cal student, 22 years old, 5’10” tall, 190 lbs., black hair and brown eyes.
