Assault & Criminal Threats

Haas Pavilion

May 25, 2006

On Saturday, May 20th at approximately 11:52 PM, UCPD received a call from a "blue light" emergency phone located on the northeast corner of the Haas Pavilion. The caller, a white male in his mid-forties reported having been the victim of assault and criminal threats.

The victim was walking his dog on the south side of Alumni House, when he reached Spieker Plaza at Haas Pavilion he heard someone behind him yelling profanities at him.  The victim told the two suspects that he did not want any trouble.  They responded by telling him that they were going to cause him bodily harm.   The two suspects appeared angry and one threatened him by raising an umbrella as if he were going to use it as a weapon. The victim was in fear for his own safety and told the suspects that he was calling the police and would use his dog and the plastic leash retractor to defend himself. The suspects then fled the scene towards the Grinnell pathway.  The victim was not injured during the incident.  Officers searched the area but did not find the suspects.

The victim described the suspects as:
Suspect #1 –. A white male in his 20's, 5'8", 150 lbs., "gel-spiked" brown hair, and wearing "Goth" style clothing.
Suspect #2 - A white male, in his 20's, 5'10", 180 lbs., short brown hair, shorts, and carrying an umbrella.
