On May 18, 2006 at about 10:28 PM, UCPD received a call concerning a robbery with a simulated weapon, which had just occurred at the corner of Ellsworth St. and Durant Ave. The victim, an Asian Female Cal student in her mid-20s was walking with her mother on Ellsworth when they were approached by two Black males. One of the males proceeded to grab her purse. The victim released the purse when the suspect reached into his pocket for what she assumed was a weapon. One of the suspects then tried to grab the mother’s purse. The mother began to scream and the suspects fled in an unknown direction on Ellsworth. UCPD and BPD searched the area but were unable to locate the suspects. The victims were not injured during the encounter.
