Foothill Housing, Bldg. #1

January 15, 2004

On January 15, 2004 at about 1:00AM, UCPD officers and the Berkeley Fire Department responded to Foothill Housing, Bldg. #1 to investigate a fire alarm activation. Officers found that a doormat in the partially enclosed corridor was on fire. A fire extinguisher was used to put the flames out, thereby preventing damage to the structure.

Fire Department personnel determined that the fire was intentionally set. A search of the area for possible witnesses or suspects was conducted by UCPD, which yielded neither.
